This Privacy Policy describes how TRK Studios ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with the MemeCraft mobile application (the "App").
1. Information We Collect
The App does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal details. We do not operate any servers that receive your data, and your photos are never uploaded. To find meme templates and show ads, the App connects to the following services:
- Meme templates. Lists of popular templates are downloaded from Imgflip's public API (api.imgflip.com) and memegen.link (api.memegen.link), and template pictures are downloaded from their image servers when you browse or pick one. Nothing about you is sent with these requests beyond what any internet connection reveals, such as your IP address.
- Google Images search. When you search under Templates › Google, the words you type or say are sent to Google, and Google's results page loads inside the App the way it would in a browser. Google's own cookies and privacy policy apply to that search. If you long-press a result to use it, the picture is downloaded from whichever website hosts it.
- Speaking instead of typing. The mic button uses Android's built-in speech recognizer (provided by the Google app on most phones). Your voice goes to that recognizer, not to us; the App only receives the words it hears. The App itself has no microphone permission.
- Ads. The App shows an AdMob banner ad. Google's advertising SDK may collect and process your device's advertising identifier and related data as described in Google's Privacy Policy. Where required, a consent form (Google's User Messaging Platform) is shown before ads load, and you can change your choice later under Settings › Ads › Privacy settings.
2. What Stays on Your Device
Memes and GIFs are made entirely on your phone. Your photos and videos, the memes you finish, a meme you haven't finished yet (kept so you can carry on if the App is closed), your saved templates and your settings are never uploaded. Pictures and videos are chosen with Android's own photo picker or taken with your camera app, so the App needs no camera or storage permission and only ever sees the picture or video you choose (a video is only read to make the GIF; it is not copied or changed). The App reads your clipboard only when you tap "Paste from clipboard".
3. How We Use Information
Template requests and search words are used only to return templates and results to the App. Advertising data is used by Google to serve and measure ads as described in their policy. We do not collect analytics about how you use the App.
4. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your information. The third parties the App communicates with are those listed above — Imgflip and memegen.link (templates), Google (image search, speech recognition and ads), and any website hosting a picture you choose from search results — each acting under their own privacy terms. When you share a meme, it goes only to the app or person you pick in Android's share menu.
5. Data Retention
Finished memes are saved to your phone's Pictures/MemeCraft folder, where your gallery app can see them; they stay there until you delete them, even if you uninstall the App. Saved templates, settings and an unfinished meme are kept inside the App until you delete them (an unfinished meme goes as soon as you save it or throw it away) or uninstall the App.
6. Permissions
The App uses Internet access (to download templates, search, and show ads). The advertising SDK also adds network-state access and the advertising ID. The App does not request camera, microphone, storage, contacts or location permissions.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App serves ads and can search the web for images, it should not be used by children without a parent's or guardian's involvement.
8. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes in the future (for example, if new features requiring data collection are added), this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will reflect the change.
